The Weight of Education: Unpacking Stress Impact on Students
India as a country has millions of engineers and jobless engineer graduates due to innumerable students getting enrolled here because of their parents wishes. People donot understand that apart from education there are several ways to become successful.
The Education system in our country is not so appreciable since it focuses only on the theories neglecting the practical aspects of life. A commerce student needs to know how to become an entrepreneur, how to start up a business, basic patterns of stock market and trading, which is much more needed in practical aspects. Similarly, a science student and a Computer graduate must possess the requirements that would land him up in a good company with required skills.
Our school and college pressurises us to complete assignment, homework and to mug up a book instead of understanding it. A simple example must be referred with each concept to make it more understandable. Students must be given more exposure to the working life. The concept of women's college and men's college and then formulating rules that disallows them to talk or sit together makes the situation more worse and they are not able to work comfortably after being so restricted. The more one tries to control someone and restrict their exposure, the more they feel frustrated and depressed. They must get personal space and time enough to know themselves and to develop new skills.
The act of criticising someone with his or her academic marks must be stopped. Maybe the skills he possess cannot be learned even by a topper student. Everyone has their own potential and abilities. It all starts with home, parents must always support their child even on their failure.
